In my experience young people don't know or care about high fidelity. Everything is MP3. If you try to explain to them that it sounds crappy they look at you like you're nuts. The only audio experience they've had is mass-market digital. If you could sit one of them down in your house and play an audiophile LP on a good TT with a good amp and good speakers, they would be amazed.But they've never had that experience. If you've been eating McDonalds all your life you don't have an appreciation for a good ribeye.

Sad indeed. Houston, Atlanta, and other U.S. cities where a vey steady flow of money is located, yet, no Audio shops? I can remember, at one time, there was a great shop in Houston called Sound World of Sound Concepts (heart of downtown along I-10, west part of the city).

My bet is if someone perceives discussions on audio forums as being repetitive or the same old thing he's probably not looking hard enough. There are plenty of examples of discussions right here on Stereophile Forum and other forums to satisfy even the most jaded perusers of audio fora. Of course there will always be some repetition and duplication of effort. Let me out it another way: sometimes one sees only what one wants to see. Beside if one is dissatisfied with the status quo why not introduce some new topic for discussion and see what happens?

Tamber in Houston (formerly Audio Concepts I believe it was) is very high end. The owner and his son are wonderful and love sharing their audio with folks. They are a nice Vandersteen dealer and have a lot of audio gear for you to listen to. Just look them up on the Vandersteen site.

Also in Atlanta, I've sent a lot of folks to HiFI Buys. They used to be called Audio Alternatives. Another large store, that is accessible. Nice, intelligent folks who run the place and they don't have an attitude. Have you guys ever tried these shops?
