Tim, do you own a pair of the marvellous Revel's? If so, I'm jealous. ;-)
Hello Mark
We have the Salon 1's. There on custom platforms, also have removed the four spikes and added three solidly mounted cones, have also had the tweeter upgrade done. We've had these speakers quite a while and have considered upgrading many times, but just haven't found anything I felt was better overall. The system has been setup and voiced using these speakers so a change at this point may be difficult. Guess maybe we'll just have to tough it out. What speakers are you using?
( Levinson #532H , Ayre KX-R , Ayre C5mp , Audio Research DAC8 , S.M.E. 20/12 , Manley Steelhead , etc etc ).
Regards Tim
Fantastic gear you have Tim! I totally dig the Ayre stuff, some of the best around imho.
I have a pair of Eggleston Andra II's. I love them! The best thing I did was to feed them more power. Not to denegrate the Adcom. but it just couldn't do the Eggs justice.
Here is my current setup:
ML 38 pre, Wadia 8 transport, Classe DAC 1, Genesis digital lens, Classe M600 monos, Acoustic Zen double barrel speaker wire (bi-wire), Shunyata python power cords, AudioPrism Foundation II power conditioner, various tweaks.
Looking to upgrade the DAC with an MBL 1611HR in the future.
Awsome speakers Mark. One of are audio club members has Andra III's, I've heard them many times and think there terrific. There driven to near perfection by a pair of Ayre MX-R's and an Ayre front end.
I owned the #38 preamp back when, a very versatile preamp, don't know if I ever got the programing mastered, used it at the lake for a few years after removing it from the main system too. I'm a big fan of the new Classe amps, probably would have bought a pair of CTM600's if it wasn't for the dealer.
Have a musical day
..baddass jammage.

Mark,
have you made any additions to your system lately?
Do you aniticpate buying any new gear in 2013?
Currently, I am quite satisfied. I still want to get rid of the old Classe' DAC 1 in favor of the mbl 1611 or maybe an Accustic Arts DAC1.
How about you?
Not yet Mark. As I travel for work, I get the opportunity to check out various dealers and their gear.
If you find yourself in Raleigh NC, for example, check out Audio Advice.
Unfortunately this is a shitty recording. But there are so many cool tunes on it and a few unreleased stuff from Becker/Fagen.
Steely Dan gold - 1982
Happy New Year! Mark,
what are you listening to in 2013? Any new gear for your system headed your way?
Thumbs up. I have the 2006 Steely Dan: The Definitive Collection. You are right, these guys were a hit machine for a while. Don't know how the sound of this one compares with Steely Dan Gold, but it sounds decent to me. I had just the Aja album for the longest time.
Really enjoying one of Carlos Santana's latest, Shape Shifter. I used the track "Mr Szabo" at a speaker demo the other day. Some of the tracks are pretty well recorded for rock.
Glad to hear Shape Shifter was well recorded , some of his other disc's were not . I'll definitely be looking to purchase that one .
The Michael Landau Group - Organic Instrumentals - 2012
Miles Davis- Kind of Blue
And believe it or not, I am anticipating the new Justin Timberlake album- some very nice sonic textures and well recorded live instruments on what I hear streaming from iTunes at the moment!
Some nice strings on the singe "Mirrors". I've also enjoyed all the layers of vocal harmonies JT adds.
The mastering is a little funny, but certainly enjoyable. I actually have not stopped listening to that single.
The handclaps, the kick drum, the strings, the distorted guitars. fun stuff.
Jazz hounds check out, Dennis Rollins 'The 11th Gate'.
The new Emmylou & Rodney Crowell disc.
Paging Mark aka Soulful Terrain?
Just picked up a bunch of used vinyl. Currently listening to:
Steve Cropper - Playin my Thang.
Cedar Walton- R.I.P.
Bill Evans (2013) remaster of 'How my heart Sings'.
Been listening to Dire Straits - On every Street - a lot lately . It's got that 80's Rock feel on a mellow theme .

I've been getting into the King Crimson The Road To Red box lately.
Good Day-
I am looking for a copy of;
Jim Hall Live! Vol 2-4 (4-cd) set released last Fall (2012).
Got started on old Genesis a couple of days ago, can't stop now. Selling England, Trick, Seconds Out and on.
Big stage on Selling England, wraps around me with voices popping up all over the place on cinema show. Probably have a 30 feet square stage with me being about 5 feet into it. Pretty cool.
have fun!

Pat Metheny & Unity- Kin (2014).
Eric Clapton - Old Sock
Probably Eric's mellowest album, I sometimes put this one on repeat and listen to it for hours.
Just good old rock without the analytical half of my brain. Spun three straight albums in a row last night and stayed up way too late. Moving Pictures, Signals and Power Windows.
Jazz-
Herbie Hancock Warner Bros years 3-CD set!
Ray Brown- Super Bass/ Super Bass2.
Martin Medeski & Wood- Juice (2014).
Has anyone here heard an audio DVD or the CD "The Very Best of Moby" It has some of the best songs I ever heard on it, and I never heard of Moby until I ordered this disc.I'm an old guy, not someone you would expect would get into Moby.
Pink Floyd- Endless River.
Keith Jarrett Trio- Hamburg '72.
Steely Dan: Two Against Nature

Thank You! MG-
yes, this is the best hobby in the world! I cannot imagine anything better.
Enjoy Foghat.
I was never a huge fan of Traffic. *Gasp* But, I've always been a fan of Steve Winwood. I remember hearing "Talking Back to The Night" for the first time while cruising the blvd. late at night. I had the album in my hand before lunch the following day and ended up buying it twice more over the years to keep a clean copy within reach, always.
Just in case any of you guys are also fans or would like to check out one of his lesser known albums, I've been listening to "Refugees of the Heart" lately. You gotta hear "In the Light of Day" from this album if you are even a casual fan of his style of music. If you are a bass player, you're going to dig the bass and xylophone work. It's very well recorded, as is typical for his solo stuff.
Nice! Catch22.
First a total thumbs up with anything Steve Winwood.
I'm listening to "New York City" by Peter Malick (featuring Norah Jones)
