preferences would steer me away from the Magnepan 1.7 and toward a mint pair of used 1.6s.  Then those would be "Gunned".  I like the idea of the Parasound stuff. Although the Parasound P3 has a MM phono stage, I would give your turntable a fair shake with a Bellari VP-130.  And I would consider a Musiland MD-10 Modified DAC from Pacific Valve.

But in the end a system has to satisfy your ears and perception.  So, you gotta listen.

Im running the Rotel RC 1582 with the Rb 1552, rDAC and have a pair of maggie 1.6 and Vienna Acoustics Mozart grands. Both speakers are amazing with this set up. It depends on your space and since I have been sent to the smallish office with my gear Im selling my year old maggies. My previous system was the parasound JC2 and A21 with Bel Cantos300iu as a DAC. It once served as an integrated with my maggie 12's and their monoblocks.

To me the Rotel is as quiet as the JC2 even while running it with a BAT VK-55 tube amp.

I love the dead quite Rotel and smooth yet liquid and tight all wrapped into one. If you want to just enjoy music do give this setup a listen as it is well worth the money. It beats systems 3xs the cost. I have had so many systems and finally found that I was looking for something, the ultimate grand utopia in sound when it was right there at such a reasonable price! The Vienna Acoustics or Focals also are a great match for this system as are the 803D B&W and KEF's.

I think they are a better speaker as the 1.7 felt like they were just too much right in my face or I would have upgraded to them through my dealers 100% price towards new speakers each year. However when I heard the Rotel with the Viennas I was hooked.

if you are going the parasound route, the A23 wont cut it with either speaker. You need to go with at a minimum the A21. The JC1 mono's would be even better. I had the A23 with a pair of Focal 700 series. I have pictures of all my systems so I can keep track of my musical adventures. I just thought Id throw that out there. The maggies need much more that the A23 to make them sign like they are meant to.
