with new components so I still have fresh in my mind what worked for me.

Stacked double New Large Advents with a baffle step compensation circuit to address Cardas placement for a rectangular room. These were powered with two Phase Linear 400 series I power amplifiers, one channel for each speaker. The preamp was an old Audiosource PreOne and I still have the Akai AT-2600 tuner and Harman Kardon TD4400 cassette deck. I used an Oppo DV-970HD for CDs. This was an impressively sounding set up although the speakers are quite imposing.
