Kute marketing koncept.

Come to think of it, Linn was kind of destroying the language long before texting finished it off!

I wonder if they'll ever get past the "k" fetish.

I love their produkts, though!

I kan't rekall a bad sounding Linn kreation, ever!

When I see a K used in place of a "hard" C I automatically think German. (i.e., Mercedes/Benz Kompressor models)

Kool. I think that may aktually be linguistikally korrekt, too!

When I see it, I think of an audio snob who uses it an an affektation.

"I kan't stand the letter "C."

I do admit to that aktivating my "Oh please" gene. But, hey, I guess I should just be glad their music server displays the letter "C!"

Q: What does Ivor kall a "CD?" Does he just default to "kompact disk" for every referenssss to them?

I would love to agree, however, I remember being hugely disappointed by the fully tricked out (and presumably 'aktiv') LP12-based all-Linn system I heard at the last show I went to. I assume (hope) it was just horribly poorly set up because the noise it was making really wasn't nice, and the smallish room was completely empty which is not exactly what one would expect for one of the true 'elder statesmen of the high end'. Eternal shame on the local distributor.

Anyway, I dutifully pay my taxes to Ivor via frequent purchases from Linn Records whose products have consistently delighted me both musically and SQ-wise. My loyalty is rewarded with Christmas cards, offers to enter various competitions, and an endless stream of often hilarious marketing.

Ironcially perhaps I have never actually owned a piece of Linn hardware. I have come close a couple of times - firstly, 20-odd-years-ago when I upgraded from my Planar 3 (now that is a product I loved) and nearly became a Linnie but listened to and preferred the Roksan, and most recently when kids forced me to abandon the Nagras and go solid-state. A pair of Klimax Solos were high on the wishlist at one point but I ended up hearing and preferring the mbls. Oh well.

Never say never though, I wouldn't rule out a second hand Klimax DS in a few years' time when they are thoroughly obsolete and trading for a song on Audiogon...
