preamp vs recording loop outputs

The pre amplifier outputs come after the volume control and any tone controls or loudness compensation. Tape outputs come before the controls and are therefore not affected by their position.
So I could use the Preamp out or the recording/processor loop to record?
Yes, but the preamp out will be modified by tone controls, balance, etc. (you may like this) and the volume control will need to be turned up to provide the recorder with a high enough signal.
The tape out or processor out is the better option.
