Those of us in Dallas, whose team is still paying the Yankees $21 million to not have A Rod play for us don't find much to appreciate about this whole affair. Though I understand A Rod has said he's not playing for the Yankees next season which means the Rangers won't have to pay the full $21 mil. So, I'm wondering if the Rangers offered A Rod $10 million under the table to not honor his contract with the Yankees. Sounds like a win-win situation to me.

Yes, The Rangers would spend money on anything except pitching it seems. Just .02 worth from Cowtown.

That's about how much they spend each year on pitching.

Well this Yanks fan hates to see him go but, he wasn't much help in the post-season! Also, what's this about Mattingly leaving because he didn't get the manager's job? He originally said he wasn't ready, now he's leaving? Too bad, I always liked him. What? This isn't the baseball forum? Oops! lol

Man, as a Red-sox fan, I really would prefer that he not come here. We don't necessarily need him to make the post season, and I think he makes other players around him worse, especially during play-offs. Obviously a guys like Mike Lowell or Derek Jeter don't put up the same stats, but I think the influence they have on other less experienced players like Pedroia (I freaking love this kid) or Ellsbury actually makes them better. for an already stacked team like the Sox, A-rod has the potential to do more harm than good. The Yankee's need more young hungry talent IMHO.

And can we bring back some strength to the national league?
