It would be real helpful if Stereophile saw fit to devote an article on these non pc required music servers. The Musica, Escient, Integra,Cambridge, and Macintosh are only some of the models in this new product field with prices ranging from 950 to over 5K. Some of the topics I, personally would like a professional's keen eye upon would be sound quality, reliability of the s/w, amount of cd quality discs that would fit on the various size harddrives, and ability to record through the pre-amp connections. After spending over 6K on my two-channel den sytem, I would not be adverse to adding another 1K or so to make the music more accessable via a Tv screen provided the sound quality was there. Anyone else interested in this new type of equipment?
JA reviews the Olive Symphony in our April issue, and is planning a review of the newer Opus.
Thanks SM. I will look forward to it.
