The Cable Company's Summer Against Hunger Campaign

August is here, which means it’s time for The Cable Company’s Annual “Summer Against Hunger” fundraiser. This marks the 15th year that The Cable Company collaborates with CARE, a leading humanitarian effort battling global poverty, with a dollar for dollar donation on purchases of sponsored products in the month of August.

The Cable Company donates a percentage of sales which are matched by sponsoring manufacturers. The 1:1 minimum donation is guaranteed by the generous participation of an anonymous audiophile donor, who is providing a funding match for total Cable Company, plus vendor contributions, and who is also underwriting the collection of additional matching funds from other CARE donors.

“Summer Against Hunger” has been a happy success. The Cable Company’s Robert Stein informs us: “Aggregate donations during the 15 years of “Summer Against Hunger,” including match funding, are approaching $2 million, and have helped support CARE programs in some of the poorest parts of the world. In the last few years, “Summer Against Hunger” donations have been earmarked for projects including the development of agricultural infrastructure in Madagascar, building schools in north central Nicaragua, and basic child survival nutrition and health programs in Sierra Leone.”

Participating sponsors include AAudio Imports, Clearaudio, Immedia, Musical Surroundings, and Siltech, but there are many more. For more info and a complete list of sponsors, click here or visit www.thecableco.com. For more info on CARE, visit www.care.org.

Wouldn't it make more sense for the audiophile to just DONATE a larger amount of their own money than to justify buying yet another unneeded tweaky cable? Suck it up and GIVE people instead of "feeling good" by knowing The Cable Company will give a percentage of the proceeds.Instead of a percentage just give the money to the charities already. THEN you might be able to FEEL GOOD about yourself. It's called being unselfish, try it, you might enjoy the new feeling.

Might you try being more positive about others' efforts to help people, "Not Impressed"?

Nice marketing ploy, if you buy some $20 piece of wire from us for $1,000. we will give a few dollar$ to some who knows what. Hey, why not keep the money right here in say Philly, not far from the cable company's digs. There sure is lots of blight and huger in your own city. Heck, fix up New Hope Pa. for that matter. Yeah, why only the negative, because this is absurd, the entire concept is bogus. Like the first guy said, why hand it to this outfit, so they send a piece under their name. It's like the govt' takes from you, and hands it to the other person. Think about how dumb that is.

What curmudgeons! I am sure both of them donate generously on their own. I am SO sure!

Actually John my comprehension is extremely good. it says "earmarked" that's a nice way like politicians scam stuff, it's not really there, but supposed to be. Perhaps I am not the one who can't understand and see through the words. Even The united Way a supposed "legit" operation had a VP scamming and taking off the top, he did get snagged and jailed. It's an insult to anyone's intelligence, that of course the charitys are far off, why can't this outfit keep charity at home, there are plenty of problems right here, within 50 miles of this place. Just because someone claims something doesn't make it so. Especially when it has the tag line "charity". Certainly you are not that soft John, you work in Manhattan, I'm sure you give to all those bums asking for a few bucks to get home right? Question EVERYTHING, something I never forgot from the days of youth.

You tell em George lol. Seems Atkinson always gets his panties in wad when people don't just "go along" with his ideals and then ask questions lol

So GEORGE/DUP/Carl Engebretsen your logic regarding charity is that no one should help other countries that are too poor to help themselves because they're too far away? That may be the most ignorant, self-serving and illogical crap you've come up with so far.
