If you were able to stetch by approx $200eur, based on your criteria for bookshelfs suitable for a small room for combined 2-channel music/HT use, I don't think you'd do better than the Ascend Acoustics Sierra 2 speakers. They are made with a layered bamboo cabinet, custom 6" Seas long-throw woofer & RAAL true ribbon tweeter. The company sells direct, cutting out Distributor and Dealer margains, so they offer good bang for the buck. And they back in those speakers with a 30 day Satisfaction guarantee & 7 year parts and labor warranty. I have no relationship with them - just passing on my pick - http://www.ascendacoustics.com/pages/products/speakers/SRM2/srm2.html

Btw, you'll get the best sound out of bookshelfs with a properly designed set of stands, which will also anchor the bass. I'd recommend either Atacama or Sound Anchors, but that's something you can add later on as funds allow.
