The Curve of the Earth

Spending time on the coast, with nothing to impede your view, leaves you feeling more aware of your connection to the planet, this gorgeous blue rock, spinning about in space. One remarkable thing about being so close to the edge of the continent is that you can actually see the curve of the earth. Here I am, committing it to memory.

Great pics. Looks like you had a beautiful time in "central" California. I've lived in Northern Cal on the coast below the Oregon border between the Klamath and Smith rivers amongst the Redwoods for 30 years now. Your trip blog reminded me of what we take for granted too often. The clean air and blue skies (when it's not raining) are miraculous. But no record stores. There's a price to pay for serenity.
