Screeching and Honking and Spewing, Too

Madison Avenue at 39th Street can be an ocean of hardhearted buses. Normally, these buses all look and sound the same: Black and white orca whales, screeching and honking, and spewing stinking fumes into my already stinking air. I hate them. No offense to any real orcas out there.

Anyway, this morning, a special bus-monster stank up my air. This one was dressed entirely in black and covered in a JBL speaker; a whole whale of an ad shouting and stinking up my morning commute, claiming something like, "Take them anywhere," or "Listen to them spin," or "Get out of my way before I run you over." Something like that. I can't remember.

Yes, so, JBL's new flowery Spyro speakers are now available. Absolutely everywhere. Which is alright. It's kind of nice to see a loudspeaker on a bus.

As the light turned green and I lost sight of the JBLs, I imagined what it would be like to live in a world where other loudspeakers were plastered to the sides of buses.

The Giants officially suck, it seems. The good news is: I can stop watching.

Thanksgiving was good. Holidays have become the time of year when I tell distant relations and new acquaintances that I work for a magazine called Stereophile.

Stereo what? they say. Phile, I say. We review high-end audio.

And they ask me to tell them about Bose.

3. When I rode buses, they had printed ads in metal frames on the outside. I don't remember any of them.2. The Cardinals are tied for Ultra Suck. Their game this week was terrific. Go figure. OK, they lost, but, damn," they played!1. I am in process of installing Alan Blumlein's balanced bias ""garter circuit"" in my Heathkit A7 amps. Visitors tell us we should have a basement to hide my hobby in. Holidays give everyone a chance to share ...
