Your Mother is a Vampire

I'm listening to Margot & the Nuclear So and So's now. They sing songs about vampires and kittens, mice and clowns. You might like them. Their story is one of poverty and despair and desolation thwarted by sudden friendship, a burst of creativity, and life on the road. It sounds familiar, but then not. They make music with trumpets and cellos and keys.

Damn, I love trumpets and cellos and keys.

When the trumpets and cellos and keys come in, I kind of just want to die. Either die or dance. Jump out the window and dance until I die.

The music comes in simply and sounds so safe to begin with, but it's really not so safe. Your mother is a vampire. She sucked your old man's life away. Listen beyond the first change or two, and just try to figure the song out. It'll surprise you sweetly, and make you want more. Wake up: you've got a lot of things to do. Wake up: the sun is rising without you. Take a ride up into this big nothing along a bridge of brass and feel as though you're going to drop deep until you fly. It's good.

And talk about some great album art.

It's funny you say that because there was a point where, while listening to this," I thought to myself something like: ""If this dude's voice sounded like Pete's"," this would be so much better."" Really. The voice is the safest", easiest part of the music. But, yeah, it's not so bad.
