Stereophile hatches a website!
Welcome to the official Stereophile website!
There are a lot of great audio websites out there, and we hope Stereophile will contribute to making the internet a rich resource for audiophiles.
Realizing that no website is ever in a final state, we will be continually evolving this online publication. Critical to the success of this website will be your feedback and ideas. Send comments anytime to Jon Iverson, or participate in one of our interactive forums.
For our online readers each week, there will be a collection of important news items of particular interest to audiophiles. The internet allows us to track events as they unfold, almost within minutes in some cases. If you've got news that may be of interest to audiophiles, send it to news@stereophile.com.
At this site you'll find the Soapbox page, where we encourage rants of around 300 words each week from anyone with a strong audio point of view. We'll e-publish the best received, and add a dozen of your reactions to each rant as they come in. And don't forget to Vote! Questions change each week, and we're keeping a close eye on the results.
One of the real advantages of the internet is as a database to ferret out information. And so we've included a searchable index of online archived news items and features as they accumulate. There is likewise an index of past paper Stereophile issues (stretching back over 35 years!) to help you find out where, who, and when we reviewed what---and then we make it easy to obtain a back issue. We additionally hope to make ordering and renewing your magazine subscriptions less of a hassle for those who prefer online commerce. A free CD is included with your paid subscription to the pulp magazine!
A complete listing of audiophile events has been created with listings of both dealer/manufacturer seminars and trade shows from around the world. The Events page will be updated continually, and has links to show/seminar pages where possible. Check here for your periodic audiophile communing needs.
If you wish to place a classified ad in the paper mag, you can do this online with our order form. And for those needing the always-fashionable Stereophile T-shirt, or one of the legendary Stereophile recordings or Test CDs, we have a quick way to set you up.
The online site provides all the contact particulars to Stereophile, including e-mail addresses and phone numbers where appropriate. We are including short bios of some of our writers and staff, and background information on the magazine, the company, and the goals that drive us forward. This is an area that will grow each month based on your suggestions---just let us know what you want.
And a new feature that is especially useful to the tweak audio cyberjunkie: Links 2 Die 4. Contributors to Stereophile will periodically send in their favorite website finds for your perusal. Not intended as a comprehensive list, this page is aimed at revealing which sites our writers have found to satisfy their own audio habits. With input from all of you, we'll soon be developing a Top Ten Audio Websites list.
Like most nascent e-publications, Stereophile online will be evolving over the next few months in response to your needs. Click around for a look and tell us what you think.
