NHT's "Room 2 Room" Series

"Whole-house entertainment systems" and "ease of use" may be anathema for many audiophiles, but they bring joy to the lives of many music lovers—as they seem to do for manufacturers with a keen eye on the bottom line.

Benicia, CA–based NHT (Now Hear This) is one such company. At this coming week's CEDIA Expo 2004 in Indianapolis, NHT plans to unveil a new series of stylish, compact electronics components designed to deliver high performance audio and composite video in up to four different rooms throughout the house.

Like NHT's Evolution series and Pro line of components, the company's Room 2 Room modular components exemplify its commitment to designing and marketing products for specific applications. For consumers who prefer a no-fuss approach to whole-house audio/video entertainment, Room 2 Room gear offers "straightforward, easy-to-understand controls and simple operation, requiring little effort on the part of the end-user," according to a pre-show press release.

Room 2 Room products feature clean, uncluttered aluminum faceplates with clearly labeled buttons and easy-to-read dot-matrix displays. All models can be powered via a 12V trigger, so that end-users can power the system when switching on just one of the components. Simplified on/off operation is consistent with the system's intuitive operation, NHT claims. Included in the fully upgradeable Room 2 Room series are two amplifiers (mono and two-channel), a multi-room preamp/controller, FM/AM tuner, and power center. Additional Room 2 Room components will be added in the near future, according to the announcement.

In addition to the new Room 2 Room series, NHT will also demonstrate its new "NHT Xd" DEQX-calibrated speaker system with DSP signal processing at CEDIA. That demo will take place off-site at the Marriott Hotel, directly across the street from the Indianapolis Convention Center.
