Hello and welcome.

About 15 months ago I was looking to buy some new loudspeakers and auditioned the Zu Druid floor standers having liked the concept and design of the speaker.

I duely loaded up my entire sound system including all cables and even power conditioner, and drove the 2.5 hours to the Dealer and set up my gear and took a selection of my favourate Cds to listen too.

I had a listen for about 3 hours, and the dealer even tried a different power filter, cables, anti vibration devices inder my CDP etc etc.

Some things did impress me about the Druids, but they were not my cup of tea. I found the midrange a little muddled, and the lower bass not as as I was not as detailed as I was used too. I also didn't find the highs as open or pleasing as I already had with my existing speakers that had Ribbon tweeters. I was also expecting them to sound far louder at lower power levels due to their claimed effiency, but was really surprised that they didn't sound that much louder at lower volume settings on my pre amp than my usual speakers.

I was impressed with some aspects of the sound though, they do throw out a good large sound field, do go quite low in the bass.

I can see how on some systems they may just be the 'right' speaker, so I'd say a HOME audition is a must. Even though I heard them through my own equiptment, I had to listen to them in a really sub-optimal room. It was a huge concrete open basement, which really did nothing for the speakers.

Collin;

Thank you for sharing you audition experience. What was the equipment you used? I have an all Naim system.

ThanX
