You have ended up with one of the greatest rectifiers of all time. I ran a handfull of rectifiers through my Woo Audio WA5. I was not impressed with the GZ34 when I first heard it. But I have come to know in all Tubes, not all GZ34's are the same. I ended up with a pair (two rectifiers vs the 1 rectifier for wa6) of 1955 GZ34 metal base Mullards. And my gosh they changed my amp into a thing of wonder. I have also played with the Driver Tubes (6sn7's) and the 300B's ending up with Western Electric's.
I have not tried the Mullard GZ34 in the WA6 (maxed). But sounds like fun for the weekend.
Note: I use the AT-L3000's headphones as my main closed dynamic rig, and the Grado GS-1000 for the open.
Thanks Mikey. I just got my AKG K701s back from recabling with 12' of Cardas. The result is as dramatic as that rectifier tube. My rig is really sweet now. Even better, with my Rowland Continuum 500 intergrated amp, I can switch between cans and my speakers and both systems are equally transparent and sweet.
Cheers Dave,
