That's the way it works, for the most part.
But like skydivers, speeding drivers, drug addicts, and risk takers, we always seem to head toward trying to find that extra bit - to make it new again. That last vestige of extreme Audio Nipple* tweak. More! More! More! Press that damn 'new pleasure' button! Hit it harder! Use a hammer!
So we spend more money, to get that last 10%..in tiny pieces, in fits and starts...we try to get to it...in any way we can.
*"Audio Nipple"(tm), ..it's all Eric's fault. He made me say it.
Understood, and that's part of what makes many (most?) audiophiles tick. Not my bag, tho - I want my stuff to sound good and work forever. I generally don't want to upgrade/spend money. If a component breaks, I consider it disastrous news - not a fine opportunity to get something better. I am indubitably a cheapskate, and thus probably not a true audiophile!
