Wes Phillips. His wide ranging taste in music (as well as other items) would be an education and a great time. Better idea: which Stereophile writers house would you like to visit: Mike Fremer. Who wouldn't want to hear his gear? Suggestion: Auction (for charity) an afternoon at Mikey's house. He supplies food, gear, vinyl. The winner does a good thing for charity. We get to read about it.

It would be Sam with Art Dudley second. They seem pretty much normal and well adjusted. At least, as normal as an audiofile can manage. Unlike, Mikey and a couple others who seem rather full of themselves. Of course, that too is not uncommon in our hobby. Besides, Sam could teach me some Italian.

Art Dudley, i like is writing and the man is funny.

I prefer listening to music, not analyzing it.

First choice is Dudley, 'cause I think it would be quite interesting to talk with him on a variety of subjects, Second would be JA 'cause he's a bass player and a recording engineer, and third would be Tellig 'cause he could give me advice on wine, women and song simultaneously.

Mikey F. As long as the bottle of wine or spirits is less than 35 bucks, I'm money ahead to have him set up the turntable (as opposed to buying the DVD.) And we could discuss other things besides vinyl

Michael Fremer and(!) John Atkinson

John Atkinson. This won't be an audio party; it'll be a music party. We won't be tweaking my system either; we'll be talking music and musicians. John's background as a musician and his well-rounded musical taste make him the most desirable party guest on your staff.

Sam Tellig

I'd Pick Mikey, however we have had a few email exchanges on politics so we might want to avoid that topic but to discuss things analog with one of the worlds leading authorities on vinyl would make for a fantastic evening and the fact he can appreciate fine wine should make the evening even better.

Art Dudley. I'm in tune with Art socially and philosophically for the most part and his writing is detailed without being overly "techy". I also drive a car similar to his. I like Sam a great deal, but aside from his conservatism, his music choices are a bit narrow. Art does drink beer doesn't he?

Let's see now. JA would certainly be a contender, especially as I am a Linn owner. It would be also great to have Michael Fremer over to talk vinyl. But Mikey probably has a better pressing of anything I would play for him, and let's not even talk about the price differential between his turntable (or anyting else in hos system) and mine :) Sam Tellig has been the first place I look every since I started subscribing. But I don't have any Musical Fidelity equipment in my system, my amplifier has a staggering 125 watts per channel, and my speakers go all the way down to 32hz. And I'm not really interested in Ukelele Ike. John Marks is also a favorite of mine, and his recordings sound pretty good on my system. But when the conversation gets aound to Bach, I'd sound like a blabbering fool, so maybe that's not going to work either. So I am going to go with the dark horse, Wes Phillips. Some time back in the Stereophile eNewsletter, Wes mentioned that he has all but abandoned vinyl. So Wes, here's the offer. You bring the Ayre C-5xe universal player with you, and we can spin some rcordings that are available on both vinyl and SACD. Deal?
