Which is better - coaxial or optical??

Hi,

I've been wondering ... for the "best" audio, is it better to go with coaxial cable or optical cable?

That depends.Here's what i believe is the best connection in alphbetical order :
a) glass st optical
b) balanced coaxial
c) bnc coaxial
d) phono coaxial
d) optical (normal/plastic)
Of course,this is a rough indication.Not taking cost of cable per se but do not expect a $100 balanced coaxial to be better than a $1500 phono coaxial.

Thanks for responding, but: 1) the list you provided is not in alphabetical order, and 2) I guess I'm "new" to all of this, but I have no clue what most of this means. Any other thoughts out there?
