I have nothing to add other than I watched Beetlejuice last night (for at least the 20th time) and laughed my a$$ off all over again.

I used to visit places like that in London when I was a wee boy...late sixties / early seventies...

Yes, but which shade of coffee would sir prefer today then...khaki or nutmeg...

Then I woke up, went next door and got laid...much more fun, cheaper, and although in those days it did not last so long as the average LP, you always came away thinking an upgrade was already a good idea...technology was going to be there all my life but youth and a full wallet chasing dreams such as Woodstock or the first IoW concert were but a fleeting opportunity not to be missed...

I am now older, definitely no wiser and I take coffee as it comes with no milk or sugar...

Well, I guess this will date me, but I precede the "brushed alumunium" days. I'm more of a baked grey enamel and bare metal guy.

I can remember my dad being skeptical of this new "stereo" gimmick.

Put me down as first owning a ceramic cartridge...that had to flipped to play 78's or LP's.

Man, I'm old.

In fact, I'm so old that when they fired the shot heard 'round the world, I yelled at them out my window to keep it down!

I'm so old that I used to know it was time to quit playing music when my "crank arm" got tired...and that's not a wanking joke!

I'm so old that when I hear "When I'm calling you-ou-ou-ou-ou..." I know the next line!

I'm so old that I can remember when scoring to music meant you had about 4 minutes before having to get up and change the record! Man, I'm old...I can remember when birth control was a curtain rope and a bottle of Coke!

OK, you whipper snappers continue to have some quiet fun. And stay off my lawn!

;-)

Now that I have enough money, but at the same time enough disgust of the marketing B.S. that I am reverting back to my earlier ways and building my own stuff. Can't impress my friends though. Not a recognized brand name, don't want to hear about it.

Still got one...plays 78's a treat...and still got a Lloyds machine which even plays 8 tracks also...dad and I never shared the same tastes...his was a huge brown bakelite radio and that was it, full stop.

Never did much cranking, too young, but I watched my cousins sister when I used to go on hols to their farm for the summer...still recall it now...huge horn (most of the time) and amazing music...Elvis on 78, gee them were the days...and when it came to milking the cows, wow, changed me for life!

...calling you, oooh, oooh, cathleen (or should be with a 'K')...Slim Whitman? No, maybe not...I might be regressing to thinking of my cousin's sister again...come to think of it...her name was Kathleen...spooky...

I so respect that -- you can do so much more than the the big brands can do due to economic and time pressures. Take an idea and enhance it.

This cracked me up. My computer screen is covered in coffee right now. I nearly died.

Watch, DUP will start criticizing the instability of the turtle platter being that the turtle still has legs and the wow and flutter caused by the warped beak of the stylus bird. MF will propose purchasing a 100k desert tortoise, which is heavier and provide the needed stability and another 25k on the Secretary Bird, which is capable of transcribing and reading back stone disks much better than the digital media, which hadn't been invented.

DAT'S a GUD VON!!! Actually MF will of course hear the difference between a playback BEAK of the WoddPecker and a BlueJay beak. But he will of course hear the sonic slowness of the TurtleTurntable. FlintSone EnterPrises, heavily advertises on the MF site, and of coruse there is no insinuation that it changes his outlook on any products from FlintStone Enterprises. Like many Turtle items, it will soon be extinct MF is the FlintStone of music reproduction. Just cus' it's OLd and obsolete, doesn't mean it's better, just that's it's old and obsolete.
