I'm 58 and I appreciate Stephen's point of view and he did jump into audiophile land from his swell Magnovox boom box. I still have an 11 year old at home so I need to get ramped up quickly on this younger generation and their ideas. This getting old is not working out!!!!!
I enjoy Wes Phillips as well. Where does he find this stuff???
My daughter is 11, but my son is only 5. But then, I won't be 58 until March.
I read his blog. I can't figure out what would make anyone feel disgusted.
Can someone who is disgusted by his blog clue me in?
If there are people who are honestly disgusted, I bet you a dollar to a doughnut that they keep going back for more, too - like Howard Stern: people listen to him every day just to get offended and complain.
I don't like ice cream, but I also don't keep ordering it and complaining anew about my disdain for all things ice cream.
Sorry to rant. I look forward to some disgusting examples!
Me, too!
Actually, lately, I haven't received any expressions of disgust. I've only received really kind and thoughtful e-mails and comments and super-sweet pieces of advice. I appreciate it all very much.
What's wrong witchou?
Happy holidays!
Jim Austin
Yeah, seriously, Buddha. How could you not like icecream? The only emperor is the emperor of icecream, dude.
Mr. Mejias,
I now understand all those complaints.
You are obviously trying to take my innocent statement and turn it into a disgusting and lurid sexual metaphor.
My like or dislike of ice cream is my business, and my business only.
I'm telling JA on you!
(Disclaimer: New forum, not sure if we have advanced to intermediate joshing yet. Purely kidding around.)
I do like ice cream and my wife keeps complaining that I keep usually 3 different kinds of 1/2 gallons. plus ice cream sandwiches, the Nutty-Buddy sugar-cone ice cream cones with nuts(Nick's fav), and some DreamSicles: orange sherbert/vanilla icecream delight. But, everytime she complains it is when she is eating some of it. I thinks she doest protest too much. Like that is going to keep the pounds off!! LOL
We may have to start and old-geizers audiophile club. At least I'll have family around to drop a needle in the groove when I've fallen and can't get up!!!!
I'm not taking my son to train in Karate class three times a week for nothing!
Hey, I'm Italian and never thought I might need "protection". Great ideal. Nick (11) is taking trumpet lessons, maybe he can wack'm with that. I just hope he stays with it. He thinks Miles Davis is pretty good. REALLY! KIDS.
well I for one am disgusted that audio [and tech] magazine writers get to play with new and great sounding equipment all the time, have the temerity to call it 'work' AND get paid for it. BAH!
(so maybe that's what one of those "expressions of disgust" are like?)
p.s merry christmas everyone
I was craving ice cream all weekend. Chocolate chip cookie dough would have been great. But when the time came that I finally found myself surrounded by gelato, I felt overwhelmed and instead ordered a large cup of bubble tea. I then sat down with my friend, Andrea, and we talked about love and stuff.
In other news, I finally packed up the Magnavox boombox in order to make room for the Musical Fidelity A3.5 integrated amp and CD player!
Now You're talkin'. Already bitten by the "what is next" bug. It gets really serious now. I really wish those B and W 603s were still around for you to hear. Maybe you could get ST to help you with a pair of Triangle Heliade's or Epos ELS 303's. I can sense you will be spinning some vinyl real soon. Enjoy.
A pair of Revel M22's would go with that nicely!
While there are many loudspeakers that've gained my attention recently, I have to admit that I've really fallen in love with the DeVores. Of course, I haven't spent real time with any other speakers, so I can't compare. Nevertheless, the thought of parting with the DeVores makes me sad.
The thought of vinyl, however, makes me smile.

Which style Devon? I need to protect myself when i tell hardened audiophiles with large Krells, Mark Levinsons and the like that i prefer the little Sonic Impact amp.

He earned his AKKA Karate Black Belt a couple of weeks ago, see: http://www.akka.org/
Of course the thought of vinyl makes you smile. I've read enough of your blog entries to realize you're a hopeless romantic. For your kind, vinyl is the only answer. Live with it. The rest of us have.
Silver discs are for convenience only. For serious listening, vinyl.
