Anything by Bob Dylan.
We're on a roll here, folks. Last week you told us about the worst singles of all time. Now let's up the ante: what about the worst albums?
Carlos Santana's Supernatural. The title track is okay; the rest is commercial and uninspiring. I must admit I had high hopes, but it looks like this one could be a retirement-fund album. Oh yeah, the recording is a shocker: two-dimensional and no dynamic range.
uaah well, I can recomend going into any record corprate record store and walking up to just about any shelf and taking a gander. turning on mtv is even more effective. Commertial radio is just painful. This task is impossible in light of all the crap that is out there.
Holly Cole: Don't Smoke in Bed [sic]--I bought this "audiophile-approved" album on a whim and listened to it once. ::Shudder:: Haven't touched it since. Supports the fact that recording quality is moot if the performance is shit. =)
This is dead easy - the album (name forgotten) by William Shatner (yes, THAT William Shatner). This has an awfulness which borders on the sublime. It adds a whole new meaning to the expression "free Enterprise". If ever an album merited a full salvo of photon torpedoes, this is it.
Most modern mainstream pop qualifies. My personal pick is Metallica Load/Reload, which is not so bad compared to Hootie and the Dave Matthews Traveler, but is an incredible disappointment when you consider their firt four albums.
