The Bob Harris Show on BBC Radio 2 is where I mostly discover new music.

Amazon is my primary method. I must have close to a couple thousand in my wish list, but I also use that to keep those titles in my mind so when I'm searching the used bins I'll take a listen to them. But I also order a ton there too.

Member-supported local college radio stations. They don't play all that commercial crap that passes for music these days.

Religiously browsing multiple public library CD racks and online catalogs every week. Inter-library loan is a great thing! Extra added bonus: it's all free!

If it were not for internet music forums, I don't know how I'd ever find out about new music. Mags can be OK, but it seems that quantity of reviews are small and unless you look at 4-6 mags, you don't get much of a selection to choose from. Radio playing new music in my city died years ago. They all find it more important to have a cute nickname to know them by and then offer a retread playlist, no imagination in programming and so little new music that I'd have to listen forever to hear an albums worth of new songs. The life blood has been sucked out of the industry. It is time for it to die and the new models to take over.

XM Radio channels 45 and 70.

The Tonight Show (Jay Leno) and David Letterman's Late Night Show often showcase promising new bands and the latest songs from well-known performers.

emusic.com has an excellent selection of DRM free music from independent labels. I browse their suggestions, download, and then buy CDs from the best of what I find.

I find there are great selections on NPR's All Songs Considered.

I buy more new music than ever. XM Radio, Paste, and just browsing the net (and yes, even MySpace!) opens up new music adventures almost every day. Screw the baby boomers who cry in their merlot and think good music is dead! Music is as good or better than ever. It's just a bit harder to find.

I won't buy a CD I haven't heard like I used to, but if I hear it online, or through Pandora, i will, and if iTunes sold non DRM lossless I would do that, but they don't, so I don't buy from them at all.

Back in college finding new music was simple. You and all of your friends devoted endless hours to this pursuit and then you shared with each other. Babies, jobs, life and more intervene now. You can’t count on the radio anymore; few stations have anything really new and interesting. Luckily the internets are here to fill the void, and mp3 blogs are fast becoming my primary source to find new music. They post mp3s of interest. Yes, mp3s are low-fi, but listen, decide and then buy. Youtube is another good source, but less focused. I think mp3 blogs are starting to cost me some serious coin in CD and SACD purchases. It’s worth it though when you find good stuff. Stereogum (http://www.stereogum.com/) is the big kahuna, but there are so many more. The Hype Machine (http://hype.non-standard.net/) aggregates a large number of mp3 blogs. Outside of blogs I am blessed with multiple college and independent radio stations, including WKCR and WFMU (which has its own blog: http://hype.non-standard.net/), both of which stream over the internet tubes and come highly recommended. Finally, I have to thank some cat who goes by the moniker languagehat for turning me on to Matthew Shipp, David Ware and William Parker; jazz is not dead.

I can find a lot of new artists online. If I am lucky, I get a sample of their work. If they are lucky, I buy their work.

CD Review on Radio 3 in the Uk on Saturday mornings is brilliant to listen to.

Living in a small town that is fairly remote ( 200km north of Toronto ), the Internet is the only way to listen to music that is not on the FM dial (which does not matter because that music is shitty). Cheers.

Well, the old farts in the house discover new music through the eclectic FM of Radio Canada, while the kids find new artist via word of mouth and/or streaming. It's a generation thing, since I can not be bother to listen to the sound of my computer even with headphone.

iTunes and music podcasts.

Peer-to-peer downloads. Everything I have bought and paid for came after I first downloaded from P2P and, as a result, I have bought more music in the last couple years as a result. But now that most have been shut down, I haven't purchased anything. I won't waste my money.

The local non-profit jazz station here in Toronto...they sound great.

I read liner notes. Good musicians tend to play on good albums, again and again.

I've just been letting everything happen without me these days. I've pretty much been doing nothing , but oh well. More or less nothing notable going on to speak of. I just don't have anything to say these days, but maybe tomorrow.

Primary? I'm note sure. Listening to terrestrial radio is certainly a biggie, but only for certain types of music. Magazine reviews are interesting, although not used that often. Friends' suggestions are responsible for a lot of music, but again, only certain styles. Movies have also been responsible for a few, as has browsing online.

I'm truly ashamed to say this but the main way I discover new music is through non-music (no offense)magazines such as Stereophile or passing mentiones in the non-music press that an artist I liked in a previous band has formed a new one. By music magazines I mean ones like Q, Mojo, Ripitup, Gramophone, Downbeat et al -- I see stereophile as a harware magazine. The music mags (perhaps I read the wrong ones) make all new music sound uninteresting. Jeremy

Haphazard. The most promising leads in recent years have come from support bands at live concerts and TV music shows/guest appearances.

I haven't been up to much today. What can I say? I can't be bothered with anything lately. I just don't have anything to say these days, but eh. I don't care.

I can't be bothered with anything recently. I've just been sitting around doing nothing. Today was a loss. I just don't have much to say. Nothing seems worth thinking about.
