I have dozens of LP's purchased since the late fifties but still tend to listen mostly to CD's.

LPs suck my ass.

Standard repetoire on CD; atonal and experimental music bought cheap on used vinyl.

I like both formats but I am trying to increase my LP collection first, CD second.

More like 95% LPs, 5% CDs (by way of necessity) Viva la Vinyl!

Probably closer to 30 / 70 Lots of old blues and jazz not available on CD

Also I have 130 SACDs.

80% of the vinyl is stored at the attic.

Used to be record collector. Lots of LPs will never come out on CD!

Currently, I buy more and more LPs (from 50's and 60's), listening them at 90%.

Call me lazy, but vinyl is just too much hassle, and all those equipments are just too pricey.

I enjoy the sound of CD and vinyl on my system. Unfortunately my old Sota table is sounding a little rough and the vacuum hold-down never worked from the day I got it. Looks like it may be time to upgrade my table. Or do I take the plunge for SACD? Hmmm.

1450 CDs to 959 LPs. I bet I'm not the only one who can give you an exact up-to-the-minute total, either.

I have mostly CD's then Cassettes followed by Minidisc. I have very little Vinyl having got replaced most of it with CD. I don't even have a Record Player anymore, I gave it to my Brother!

I still prefer the vinyl.

The vast majority of music over the past 10+ years has only been available on CD. I tend to purchase at least a couple of CD's per week, so my collection has slowly been tipped toward the digital medium. Given more of a choice I would have much more vinyl.

It is my opinion that the compact disc was made for slobs who couldn't take care of their vinyl equipment. While it is true I have heard very good recordings on cd,for the most part it is a hit and miss proposition. Which I can't and won't afford.I will just keep playing and buying my friends record collections until the powers that be get the cd right.

I'd have way more vinyl, but I suffered a momentary lapse of reason in the 90s and dumped my collection.

Dissatisfaction with CD reissues of my LP collection drove me to buy a table just to listen to my older music. I discovered that analog possesses a much more 'organic' sound for lack of a better term. It really smokes my CD collection. Somewhat of a bittersweet surprise. The music is fantastic, the prices unreal, the cleaning a necessary evil and only vegging half as long somewhat disappointing. Why don't the labels come out with a Super LP! SLP! At only 3 feet across, it will make the days of getting up a thing of the past! Hmm, maybe not.

The LP is still superior!

100% CD. That's it until the dust has settled over SACD versus DVD-Audio, or I can get both in one player. Simple as that.

I have allways kept the habbit of adding vinyl to my collection, as I do with the CD.The thing, is that vinyl is very much loved by my boys and friends

WHY IS IT THAT MY VINYL IS THE ONLY FORMAT THAT HAS ME TAPPING MY FEET, AND REACTING EMOTIONALLY TO WHAT I AM HEARING? REGA PLANAR 3, RB300 ARM, SUMIKO BLUE POINT SPECIAL.

jakob gooijer's picture

most of my "summer music" is on vinyl.

Sergio Perez's picture

I have like 15 LP's and about 900 CD's. I might get a new tournable though and the ratio might be modified

Have been building up my CD collection, I just bought a new preamp with line stage only, and no phono stage, but plan to get a phono pre preamp to play my records. I don't plan to get rid of my records!!

It is 50-50 right now but not be for long. Hey, there are garage sales every week - at a buck a pop! So, more vinyl to come. I no longer purchase CD's and don't intend to since I am pretty ticked at the shenanigans of the recording industry. (Just might relent, however, if SACD takes off). Kurt Christie Guelph, ON

If I could find more records, I'd buy 'em!
