In-walls and good sound don't necessarily go together. Budget in-walls and good sound are non existant. Heck...budget in-walls are almost non existant. Dang things have no cabinets yet they charge five to yowza times as much for them! Why is that?

The ceiling models will run you a bit more still since they should have a cabinet which recesses in to the ceiling space to protect the speaker from the elements. They may even sound a little better because of this.

Thankfully your just trying to conceal the rears, for movie and gaming effects, so ultimate sound quality I wouldn't think is that critical.

You might look into the Monitor Audio line, and if they are over budget check out some of the JBL offerings.

couple of thoughts, first of all, i love the name.

second, it would be useful to have two frames of reference. One is what you consider "cheap" as some would consider a 1000$ pair of speakers cheap (not me) and others (me) would consider it an indulgence*. Many fortunate soles would call 1000$ speakers both.

oh the other thing is, what do you feel constitutes good sound, do you have a frame of reference, something you currently use and would like to match?

depending on what you want, partsexpress.com may offer raw materials to get you in on the cheap.

good luck

The people at Part Express can actually steer you to some pretty good in wall systems. http://www.partsexpress.com/webpage.cfm?webpage_id=3&CATID=43&ObjectGroup_ID=379

Hi everyone,

Ideally I would like to spend about 500$ a pair. Something that you can watch a movie with and feel as though your not listening to 20 PC speakers

Any thoughts on these... Klipsch CDT-3650-C In-ceiling Loudspeaker? Would they make good rear and middle speakers?

I went to Tweeter and left enraged that noone would help me, they would rather read the damn paper than take my money.

Lets face it, I am green when it comes to home audio.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

The Proficient C620 from Parts Express has a better frequency range and is cheaper. Proficient is a leader in whole house audio. The Proficient C645 is even better and costs about the same as those Klipsch. No, I don't work for or have an interest in Parts Express or Proficient.

good morning.
i just recently purchased aperion audio's in wall speakers for a living room system that was kept at a budget on purpose (after all the main audio system comes first!) they work really well for the money and they have an adjustable tweeter for sweet spot aiming. they are only 149 each direct from factory. they work really well. also if you are concerned about voicing with mains and center they make enclosure speakers as well. i have not heard the enclosure speakers.
