Peter's a great guy with wonderful products. I use his "The Voice" ebony, moving iron cartridge. It is amazingly lifelike.

I bought several 45-rpms that he cut directly from his lathe. Still, I hope that he can raise the funds to produce the D2D versions. BTW, "Spot" the guitar, used by Doug Wamble, Bill Frisell, John Hart and others on Peter's recordings, is my guitar.

Interesting!
Did you loan the guitar to the project or ...?
I'm not sure who you are going by dcstep?

What do bimbos and audiophile recordings have in common? For the most part after the first encounter or two the thrill is gone. In the end they are great for impressing friends, but offer little to no long term happiness. I haven't heard the recordings from DirectGrace but they don't belong in the bimbo category. Even if the music does fall flat for some listener they will still be able to take satisfaction in knowing that their purchase helped those in need. Now that's long term happiness, it's a fantastic idea. Who among us hasn't felt at least a pang of guilt as we spent more on a pair of interconnects or a power cord than many people around the world make in a year? For that matter many of us own speakers that cost more money than people in the third world will see in an entire lifetime. Is it our faults? Not entirely. Can we do something to help change the situation? Certainly.

no way! Jazz at the Pawnshop is the finest jazz record made on a musical level. EVER.

Actually there are a few audiophile records that do have some excellent music on them. I wonder if anyone has ever tried making a list. It's a tricky thing. For instance I think the music on Waterlilly is world class but it isn't exactly mainstream. I happen to really dig Middle Eastern music so Waterlilly is an awsome label for me. I think the RR of Nojima are pretty world class in performance as well as sound too. Oh, and there's some really good ancient music on Harmonia Mundi. There is also a good deal of really crappy ancient music on Harmonia Mundi too. Ya gotta pick carefully.
