Using 220v - 110v converter effect?

As long as the converter you purchase has a sufficient power rating, you should experience no difficulties. Make sure the rating for the converter is greater than the maximum power consumption rating for the amp. I lived in Europe for a few years with a stereo powered by a converter with no difficulties.

Thanks Charly. Anyone who has gone the other way from 220 to 110V?

Also, is the frequency anything I need to worry about or do converters take care of this?

Voltage converters are simply step-up or step-down transformers and have no effect on frequency. The only case I can think of where 50Hz vs. 60Hz could be a problem would be with turntables using a synchronous motor.

Aside from synchronous motors per above most components run on DC so the first thing the power supply does is flatten the AC to DC anyway.
