First, I don't know why your JBL L40s need to be reconed. The cones should be just fine, what does need replacing is likely the foam surrounds on the woofers. A kit to replace the surrounds should be less than $25. It should only cost less than $100 to have somebody do it, but it is fairly simple to do yourself. The cones should only need replacing if they are damaged, which usually doesn't happen.

Second, anything BOSE is probably not worth buying, IMO. And, the Energy RC-70 cost $2000 a pair, $4000 for the entire system, so what is your second question?

Thanks for your answer. The second question was, have you heard of a speaker called ORB and if you had any opinion on them. You are correct I only need foam surrounds.thanks again.

I prefer the Anthony Gallo Nucleus Micro to the ORB. You can get them right now for about $80 a piece. That said, I personally would look at more conventional bookshelf speakers and a good subwoofer for a home theater system.

Infinity P362 floor standing speakers for the mains - $380 a pair
Infinity PC350 center channel speaker - $160 each
Infinity P162 bookshelf surround speakers - $210 a pair
Infinity PS212 subwoofer - $320 each
TOTAL - $1070 for a home theater system to enjoy when powered by an adequate receiver and source
