It is completely opaque about what they do/are but have lots of boiler-plate to absolve themselves from any responsibility and to limit client recourse. Basically, no useful or, even, enticing information.

Hey, if I missed anything, it must be well hidden.

Can you say "snake oil"? I can't wait to see what our friend DUP has to say about these wild claims.

Although I must say that the return on their investment rivals that of Starbucks and stadium beer vendors. Case in point - 50 blank, black CD-Rs are available on Amazon for $12.50 (Black Discs) and the cost for 50 black, undigitized CD-R copies of one's original CDs is $2250 (plus shipping and with no refunds allowed!!!) yielding approximately $2000 profit for copying 50 CDs.

Hey, why didn't I think of something like this?

Brilliant!

The really intriguing part is wondering which two members will get into an e-fight about how the product can't work vs. how do you know it can't work.

I'll go make the popcorn!

So they are copying COPYRIGHTED material and selling it, looks like the music owners have a suit on their hands don't they? If it is on a CD , it might be false claims since it's still DIGITAL. ain't it?. When ya run out of magic, ya gots to go onto something different. A CD that ain't digital. And Philips/Sony can go after then also, if they are using the copyright CD logos, and calling it something other than what it is. Philips already did that on some of those goofy new type discs, that didn't conform to CD specs. If it's not CD ya can't use the trademark logos. Looks like this stuff has a short life span.....Maybe MF can give it a review, and find salvation in it....How does a BLACK CD sound better, wasn't GREEN the thing. The illusion of an LP, black, ? It never ends does it?

Truly odd.

Other than copying a CD onto a black CD-R I have absolutely no clue what they are doing.

DUP,

Excellent and lucid post with no ranting and very reasonable arguments. Regarding the issue of copying and reselling copyrighted material I do suppose that they could make the make a claim similar to the companies that provide a ripping services (the services that copy, or rip, one's CDs onto a hard drive), whatever that claim may be. The biggest differences being that ripping services don't charge $50 per CD and they don't claim to enhance or improve the sound.

They're making it better. Ask me how they're making it better. Go ahead, ask me! I dare you! Ahhh, you knew I wouldn't tell you. You know why? Because... it's a secret!

> Now what do y'all make of this??

It is for audiophiles to send $50 to test first hand an audiophile claim that costs the supplier a few dollars + marketing costs. Success rests on getting enough audiophiles sufficiently interested to "risk" the small amount of $50. This is likely to require "reviews" on sites like Positive Feedback, 6moons and similar plus posts to audiophile web sites although google does not show much activity at the moment. I very much doubt putting up a web site alone will be sufficient but they may be waiting for the "reviews" since interest is likely to peak and then die away.

Even IF they actually had service which I doubt they do (which I guess is to custom press a CD onto vinyl?) they are on serious crack. I'm pretty sure it's not real but for the rpices they are charging you'd quickly get up to a level of DAC or CD player that the argument gets silly.

Plus- what magic DAC are they using anyway that they think will make it an analogue recording? Sorry- if it's on a CD already, taking it and trying to press it into vinyl is ridiculous on every level. And lastly- you can get so much on real vinyl today anyway who would be stupid enough to do this little charade?

Alex, tell us what they are doing! Please!

I think all they are doing is making a copy and burning it onto a black CDR.

A burned copy can sound better than a CD and some believe that black CDs work best as the absorb laser light and there is less scatter. Well . . .

Maybe they put the CD next to a jar of colorful pebbles and on blue paper until it feels safe - then they make a quick copy to preserve the safeness.

We secretly replaced the regular audiophile CD's with Folgers Crystals... let's see if anyone can tell a difference...

If were going to do a service like that, I'd add slight distortion to the copy. The Cakewalk tape simulator plug-in I sometimes use is great for adding a touch of sheen and "character" to music.

They are un-digitizing the CD... I guess that would be filling in all the little holes, so you are left with only 0's no more 1's. That would leave you with nothing. No data... no music... no money...

This is the best scam in the world... that is if anyone buys a disk.

you know you want to.....

Cheers,

Great responses, all!

All of these would work - some would be more subtle than others.
