ooh, that's NOT normal. I don't know that specific turntable so can't advise on the fix, but no turntable needs that adjustment after each record. Somebody on the forum will probably advise in detail, but in the meantime check your manual.

i agree with bill. it should probably be tight on its own or there is a small adjustment nut that you have not seen. ask your dealer. as an aside, i have one album - a "digital" recording of the 1812 overature that i have to turn the weight up on to get the cannon shots to come out, but in all these years, that is the only album like that i have encountered.
good luck, it is probably simple.

Oh yeah- not a good thing at all- and not advisable. Set it once with a good gauge, along with anti-skate etc. Michael Fremer's DVD is highly recommended BTW.

That's fine to get a stylus force gauge - but the problem is the weight moves, thus frequently changing the downforce, right? That's the problem, the unauthorized moving of the weight - that's something that generally should stay in place. Find problem - a set screw, a locking nut, something. Check your manual or your dealer.

There is no locking nut or set screw; http://www.sumikoaudio.net/project/manuals/Debut_III_Manual.pdf

Why are you adjusting the counterweight? Unless you are returning the arm to zero balance after each play you wouldn't notice a slight variation in tracking force. There is no reason to zero balance the arm between disc sides or even after each listening session. Therefore, I'm curious as to how you have come to notice the arm's static balance is off after a short period of time.

I get the feeling you're checking things that don't require checking and then being fooled by an arm that doesn't always return to the same floating location above the platter. My advice would be to get the tracking force guage and set the VTF once. Then don't worry about anything, don't check anything, don't adjust anything and just enjoy the music.
