IMO those Klipsch speakers are not very good at all; it will be very easy to find many speakers that sound much better.
I suggest that you look at speakers from KEF, PSB, Focal and Wharfedale.
For example, the Wharfedale Diamond 250, which are only $1000 per pair.

For an outstanding integrated amplifier, I recommend Musical Fidelity; they make some excellent ones that compete in sound quality with much more expensive ones. I suggest the Musical Fidelity M6si, which is a bargain at $2999.

I would also suggest that you get a Marantz CD6006 player, which will sound MUCH better than your old one, and is only $600. It uses DAC chips which are several generations removed from those in that old Onkyo, and the sound is much improved.

Hello everyone, I am in my mid-60’s and am also in the process of upgrading my system. I currently have an NAD 7100 (bought in 1989), a pair of Klipsch Forte’s (also bought in 1989) and an Onkyo Integra CD player (bought in 1999). I have on order a Rega P6 with Exact cartridge and a Bluesound Vault 2i for ripping CD’s and streaming. I currently subscribe to Spotify (premium). If you were spending an additional $5k on an integrated amp and speakers, what would be your suggestions? And in what order would you add the amp and speakers. Although the Forte’s sound good, I would like a little smoother sound. Thank you!

Thank you very much, Commsysman. I will certainly take a hard look at those recommendations. Another question for you.... Do you stream music to your system? If so, what do you use to do that?
Thanks again!
