We've published 2 articles on this subject: one by Mort Frank in April 1988 and a second one by Jonathan Scull in March 1994. In additon, Jim Austin mentioned a store he frequents near Lincoln Center in his June 2004 "As We See It".

I also remember Steve Guttenberg's article, "The Music Goes Round and Round...", in our June 2005 issue. I only remember this because there was a girl I was hot for at the time who...
Nevermind.
Thank you both for your replies.
Guttemberg's article is exactly the one I meant. .

Great! I hope you find lots of great new music and enjoy your time in NYC.
Will this be your first trip to New York?
I've been there twice, but never really had much time to escape from job or family duties. Only a short visit to Tower Records in 1992 (worth $400, which is A LOT of mexican money) and then in 2004 I could not spend more than 30 minutes ($200) again in Tower.
This time I will have the time to visit at least 3 record and a few hi-end gear shops, so I'm afraid my finances will be severely injured ...
Regards.
