I just noticed that Steinway, of piano manufacturing fame, is making really high end speakers under the name Steinway Lyngdorf.

Yes, the man behind this venture is Peter Lyngdorf, who used to own TacT and, many years ago, was also involved in Snell and NAD. The Steinway system is not just speakers but also includes a digital front-end and full digital equalization and correction and crossovers. It is very much a "set-and-forget" system, aimed at rich music-lovers who do not want a relationship with their audio gear.

I auditioned a Steinway-Lyngdorf system a couple of weeks back in a sub-optimal room and it managed to sound superb.

For $150,000 the Steinway-Lyngdorf Model D is hardly entry level.

Your turn of phrase gave me a laugh. In a good relationship, both parties listen to each other. In the "relationship" with audio gear, hopefully the listening only goes in one direction, unless the audiophile has a bad digestive system and his audio gear isn't isolated from vibration!
