Splain Sumpton To Me

I am the tech manager for Circuit City but my question is what is the difference between these two setups. None of the guys in entertainment can give me a clear answer. I can get these for about 500-700 dollars. Would very much like to know the difference.

Re: Splain Sumpton To Me

From a cursory glance at the specs, the KHT3005BL has a wider frequency response (Satellites 70Hz - 55kHz, Center 65Hz-55kHz, Subwoofer 30Hz +/-3dB) than the KHT2005IIBLMP (Satellite 80Hz - 27kHz, Center 80Hz-27kHz, Subwoofer 30Hz +/-3dB) in terms of the satellite speakers and centre channel, probably due to the midrange driver being a different design. Without hearing the systems, it'll be difficult to know if there will be a significant or meaningful difference.

The KEF system speakers go to 55KHZ? Really!!!!

"more boom to your bass, with pin point accuracy!

I hate to be such a kill-joy, but this is the kind of marketing hype that drives me crazy.

Is this the type of Marketing 101 coming out of our university systems these days? When I do watch TV these days I wonder how companies can pay good money for the ads they run. It is less and less about features and benefits, but more about what someone else with think of you if you used some product.

I would love to hear back from you and tell us, when playing some acoustical instrument music, ie piano, guitar, violin, which system sounds more "natural" and more "like real instruments".

Forget the money and the appearance...which one sounds better to you?

I'm pretty much illiterate when it comes to home theatre I'm new all I know is I have a new 40" Samsung LCD I got from work. A sony progressive scan dvd player (didnt think the upconverter was worth the money after seeing it play one night after work). Monster THX Certified component cables and THX Certified Fiber Optic Wire ($10 a piece through accomodations through monster). Between the two I dont care about looks. My main question here was does the acoustic suspension mean anything and the small difference in frequency? This is what I'm curious about. Why spend 2 or 3 hundred more if I don't have to.

And you're the tech manager!? Let me talk to the sales manager...bet I could leave the store with a free HT set-up.

As Jim would say; ignore the specs and let your ears do the judging.

After my visits to Circuit City I can believe that.

Buy the less expensive system. KEF speakers sound very much alike from system to system and you are really unlikely to notice the difference if they are going to be used for home theater.
