I had the pleasure of working with their BC-1s many moons ago at the BBC Research Dept. We had a number of pairs of them, and they were extremely accurate. I can't comment on their S8e model, but I think the Spendor philosophy remains the same.

I was told their cabinets were supposed to be some of the very best in the business; very solid.

The cabinets are heavily braced and damped. You might also want to check the late Spencer Hughes's partner at the BBC, Dudley Harwood, who went on and founded Harbeth here.

Again, a lot of effort is spent on the enclosure design, internal, and external, to keep coloration as low as possible.

It's funny you mentioned them, because the same dealer also sells Harbeth, and he let me listen to a pair, and they sounded great also! Totally different cabinet philosophy; on the Harbeth, the back panel was separate, and screwed on. He said it was some sort of controlled venting process, if I remember correctly. The cabinet wasn't near as solid as the Spendor, but the speaker sounded very nice!

I really like the Canton's, and when I hear something else, I just seem more unsure, and confused!
The Spendor S8e really changed my view on what a speaker can actually do, compared with what the specs would lead you to believe! Amazing!
