Usually from the front baffle.

I have seen several references to the distance that a speaker is placed from the front wall. Are these measurements taken from the rear panel of the speaker or are they supposed to be taken from the drivers?

We try to ensure that the writers are talking about the distance from the speaker's front baffle, where the drive-units are mounted.

John,

Thank you for the reply I really enjoy reading your reviews every month. They have really helped me expand my knowledge and love of hi-fi. Please check your PM box for another more specific quesiton.

I figured that the front baffle was the measurement point of interest considering that is where the business happens! I have seen several manuals for speakers that show the measurement off the back of the enclosure and and not the front baffle.
