i have owned just about the whole line of source speakers, unsurpassed by none. wc drivers and incredible craftmanship, handbuild by people with love. MADE IN USA
i have owned source speakers for about 12 years now, i think i went trough their whole line, i just keep upgrading. when i buy new ones i don't even listen to them bevore i buy them, i know everything john sollecito from source technology makes is great. the wc drivers he uses are incredible. i power my speakers with a cinepro 3k6, the combination is just awesome. nothing but pure sound. bevore i got lucky to find these speakers i was running b&w. i went trough a whole line of speakers from fourier to apogee, but nothing comes even close to these speakers. these speakers are handbuild in conneticut and take about ten days to make, it' worth the wait.
Just because something is made in the US doesn't automatically mean that it's any good. Alternatively, just because something is made in China doesn't mean that it necessarily suffers from quality control issues.
i do have to agree with you on the MADE IN USA, just about everything we do make is all about profit margins and how high the stock can go by cutting labor and quality. but there are a few companies out there that do produce a product with pride and source technology is one of them. once you have experienced THE SOURCE EXPERIENCE you'll understand, till then you will never know what good sound is.
No argument, from me, that "made in the USA" is a guarantee of quality...I would just like to purchase something from "home" once and a while.
AlexO: Call Source (800-599-7558) to find out if there is a dealer in NYC. Or you can contact Walter Herrmann (walterfallsview@yahoo.com) he is a Source dealer in the state of New York).
Well, AlexO, I'm going to the dealer near me to have a listen but doubt if I will buy...he only has one model, out of a dozen, for demo. I've been conversing with this dealer and learned that these speakers are all custom made, one at a time - makes me wonder how they sell them at such a good price.
For over a month I have e-mailed and telephoned several times but have yet to get a response. Like you said, "not a good sign". Did you try contacting Mr. Herrmann, as I suggested in an earlier post?
Haven't gotten to Hermann yet. I'm feeling a bit uneasy because if these guys don't answer a simple inquiry about a potential sale, I can see how this can become major aggravation when trying to get warranty service.

This is getting most interesting, AlexO. Just 10 minutes ago I got a telephone call from Walt Herrmann - a very personable and helpful guy. He wanted to know if the dealer in my area had made contact, etc. We spoke for about 20 minutes about a variety of speakers brands and other audio related topics. He even mentioned that if I was interested in another make of speaker he could get it for me at 50% off. When I mentioned that myself, and others, weren't getting any response, when contacting Source, he was very surprised - he said he would get back to me.
I still plan on giving these speakers a listen and will keep you posted. Try e-mailing Walt and I'm sure he'll be in touch. Keep me posted.
Yes, I know I'm nine years late with this comment. I picked up the JSE 0.6 speakers along with the main sale of Vandersteen 2Ci. The seller said they were pretty good and the additional cost was small. I ran them for months on 25" stands (though the manual said 12"). As mentioned earlier, hefty, good woodwork and finish. I like them so much I recently got the Source Technologies 7211 reed, since as written by others, same engineer. The connection is that, to my understanding, JSE - formerly of Manchester, CT, a suburb northeast of Hartford, is named for John Sollecito Engineering. The infinite slope design was licensed to JSE, is now with Joseph Audio (might be in their Pulsar?) and the licensor (inventor) is Richard Modaferri? of McIntosh. Source Technologies seems to be John's next company, to get to the original author's point. South Windsor is another suburb northeast of Hartford, CT, adjacent to Manchester. The 7211 is great, a floorstander, is being used with another boutique brand, from the last 1980s, Kinergetics KPA-1 and KBA-75. Based on my two data points, I'd agree with another poster - a great well made choice. For reference, I also have the 2Ci, the ADS L-810, the McIntosh ML-1C, Dahlquist DQ-10 and DQ-20, and the JSE 0.6
While Source and JSE are about a half hour from me, I have no connection to them (though I'd love to visit someday)
The "about us" page lists John Sollecito as chief designer. Here's a reference from Soundstage; http://www.soundstage.com/revequip/weaver13.htm
And one on Audiogon; http://cgi.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/auc.pl?homesubw&1179711996
Thanks, Jan, for the references. I had a chance to do some more research on Mr. Sollecito...a talented man. It seems SLT is worth further exploration.
I'm waiting to hear from them as to where I can audition their line of speakers. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks, folks, for the info. I haven't been able to find very many write-ups on SLT but those that I did were all complimentary.
I have contacted them several times, trying to find a dealer in my neighborhood, and I finally got a response yesterday. (Thank you.)
Would like to buy something "Made IN USA" and if they are as good as people heve been saying...

Those are very high standards to live up to. Are there dealers in NYC where I can demo these speakers?

Please do! I located a Source dealer near Baltimore and plan on going there this weekend. I'll keep you posted.
I sent sourcespeakers an e-mail on Sunday or Monday asking for a list of dealers in my area. I've yet to receiver a reply. This is not a good sign.
