I do not recall ever reading a product idea on this forum so have no idea where to put it so...

Think of this..Today we have iPOD's that can store and play standard resolution CD quality files. I expect some fellow a bit ahead of the times will eventually crank out an iPOD that can handle 96/24 files, probably soon...so, my idea

Perhaps someone could build a wireless device to attach to that iPOD that would bypass the iPOD's internal DAC not unlike todays Wadia i170 or the Teac interface, a device that would send this DIGITAL signal to an owners own external DAC of choice wireless...

Now that would be one heck of a device, especially if the maker did not try to screw buyers with an absurd price. I figure if Audioengine can already do that with an analog device for under $100 bucks a $500 digital one seems in reach...one that is future proof and ready to handle 96/24 files...

Anyway, that is what I would pay for such a device...I suspect using your iPOD as a high res server wireless would be hard to ignore.

Wireless Hi Rez iPod!

Brilliant!

It's gotta happen.

Hell....

Wireless Hi Rez iPod to wireless self powered speakers, with all the volume control and equalization controlled via the iPod.

Then, you could also "rank" the various iPods in the house, so the Hi Fi responds to the highest ranking iPod in the room, if you like.

JIMV, the digital future of Hi FI is so bright, it it oughta wear shades!

Cheers, man. Great idea.

Check out AirPlay. AirPlay was introduced as a part of the AppleTV release on September 1. Although only a few minutes of Steve's presentation concerned AirPlay, I feel that this technology will be a major turning point in the acceptance of networked entertainment devices. An AirPlay-enabled device can stream content to or from other AirPlay devices. Music on your iPhone can be streamed to your Denon receiver. This functionality will be a part of the iOS update coming next month. I haven't seen any specs for the content formats that will be supported, but I'm sure it's within the capabilities of the protocol to support at least 24/96, 2 channel audio.

Charely, I am not sure I understand...you are speaking of a digital data stream, not an analogue one? My Audioengine W2 already does analogue...
