This happens during playback?
Call up the dealer or take it to the dealer where you bought it and see if they will give you an exchange. I would also call the manufacturer and ask them if this is a known manufacturing/design glitch. Parasound is a pretty good company and they would want to know about this quickly.
Do you hear clicking from within the chassis when it does this? I wonder if there's a faulty relay switch... maybe tied to the remote section if there is one? Just a shot in the dark.
A darned accurate shot. I emailed Parasound. Would you believe their engineers answered and helped me troubleshoot the problem. Turned out to be the remote. When I took the batteries out the problem disappeared. Great service! Parasound is first class all the way.
I'm going to get one of those universal remotes from Harmony to replace the five remotes I have in the Den. In any event the only functions on the pre-amp that I use are volume and mute. I can easily do without if need be.
Thanks everyone
Cool beans. I'm glad it worked out to be a relatively pain free solution... beats having to pack up the unit and send it in. Are they going to fix the remote?
lol. I was having intermittant random problems with my system. It turned out it was one of the cats walking over the remote and changing the settings.
It was particularly fun when a cat would stand on the volume up button.
