Power conditioner/cutoff

I live in N. California, around plenty of eucalyptus trees. In the rainy/windy season, we have frequent power outages. While I have my stereo system behind a Panamax power conditioner, when the power goes off and returns, the Panamax starts up again and reboots the system.
What I am looking for is a power interrupt switch, that goes off when the power goes off, but has to be manually restarted, thus preventing sudden off-on scenarios for my VAC integrated.

Thanks,

Roders.

Re: Power conditioner/cutoff

Every power condition that I am aware of automatically restarts. What you need is a battery back up IN ADDITION to a power conditioner. That way when the power goes out the tubes won't get hit with a hard shut down/power up cycle, the less of these the longer the tubes will last. Don't buy a battery back up unit made for computers because they don't create a clean sine wave appropriate for audio gear or video gear. Panamax makes some units that meet this description.

Re: Power conditioner/cutoff

With my Belkin PF60, I can designate specific outlets to require manually powering back on. Thus, when there is a power outage, my critical gear stays OFF, until I manually turn those powered outlets back on. Another trick is that if you (manually) dim the display, it automatically reverts back to the BRIGHT display when power is restored, thus alerting you that there was an outage, even if you were not home. Works great!
