Power amp vs. speaker rating

I'm running my monitor audio RS6s on an old PS 200c power amp - output 200 watts per channel. Speakers are rated at 40-120 RMS. I'm in a New York apartment, so volume levels are kept low, no more than 1/3 the dial. Is this going to hurt the speakers? I've read opinions going both ways. Thanks.

Re: Power amp vs. speaker rating

Nope.It is next to impossible to "hurt" your loudspeakers with too much power(your ears will give up sooner than the loudspeakers). The 2 most common ways to blow a speaker is from underpowered amps (distortion) or by using an equaliser
(unnatural boost of certain frequencies).
