Bummer. When did they receive the unit for repair?
The UK importer had it a week before shipping a failed DAC board to Wadia - who have had the failed part for five weeks.
A simple board replacement shouldn't have taken more than a week - Wadia have other ideas.
Wadia's warranty is 5 yrs, the dealers 2 yrs - worthless when it isn't being sorted.
Here in the States, the customary practice is for the Dealer to handle the return and offer up a demo unit for use while the original is being repaired.
I don't blame you for being pissed, but I would expect my dealer to help out with a loaner if I had just dropped 20K on gear from him. Have you approached the dealer for a loaner while yours is being repaired?
Anything by anybody will fail, at any time. BUT $20K Cd player!!! eeessshhh, wonder if it uses say the Philips VAM12.1 they cost an entire $226. But the way they handle failures is baaaaaaaaad. 5+ weeks!!! It's a simple swap it out, for anotehr one that works...what a concept especially on something at that price level. Didn't this company go out of business before, now they are back, for how long? Weren't they the cat's meow years ago, everyone all ga ga over there junk? Just another mfg of consumer stuff. I've seen better warranty handling on a $100 product.....Ask now, Why Wadia? When for less you coulda' got say a 21st century EMMLAB for less than half price...or say even an AVA DAC Ultra series that will probably sound as good or BETTER than this thing, well I know mine does cus' miny plays CD's!!!hahahahahaha www.avahifi.com any Cd player into teh Ultra hybrid DAC or.....www.emmlabs.com for what looks to be some smokin SACD stuff CDSA-SE the "cheap" one upsamples to some amazing rate. Why Wadia? Just curious. where is is made?
Don't be surprised if the company is no longer a going concern. Don't try this at home folks.
Well done Wadia - CD player repaired after only 7 weeks!
The whole business just leaves a sour taste in the mouth.
Would other Wadia owners, or would be owners be happy with this?
OUCH! I am maybe half an hour away from you just up the road about twenty miles - I cannot offer advice on the machine, but I could certainly help you sort out the dealer who should be made to fix things very rapido! I have not yet figured out all the nuances of the site yet and if you would care to send me a private message (not sure how to do this yet) I am sure I could maybe assist in some way?
Methinks this one might be best consigned to the bin. It was seemingly raised on behalf of another person who actually owns / uses the machine. My offer to assist has been withdrawn as it would be extremely complex to establish who said or did what and when, and in my opinion, probably very unfair on Wadia to go any further without the right to respond.
And who exactly denies Wadia the right to respond? I'm sure there would be quite a lot of people interested to find out what is their "official" position on the matter (I sure would since I'm contemplating the purchase of a Wadia transport but after reading the above posts, err, well... maybe CEC makes excellent transports too, after all )
