I've not heard the phono input on the Plinius, but It's supposed to be very good.
Seriously, though, I thought you had decided on the Plinius as your amplifier (?). Why buy one integrated amplifier and use it as the preamp to another? You do know that they make preamplifiers and power amplifiers, right? (haha just giving you a hard time)
I say, If you're not ready to commit, you should back out now and do lots more listening.
No, I'm buying 2 amplifiers because I'm setting up 2 systems. I've auditioned both the Plinius & the Leben with a lot of speakers and quite like them both. One for the living room (Plinius) & the other for the study/den (Leben). But I won't be moved in until June & I'll have these 2 amps in one rack for a while, and I just read about how the Plinius can act as a pre-amp & the Leben can as a power amp, so I thought, how convenient. Especially if I want to try getting into vinyl right away! This way (if it works) I thought I can spend the $ on a decent turntable & worry about buying a separate phono stage later...
Well, in that case, I see no reason not to. Your head's in the right place regarding getting into vinyl ASAP!
