Palmetto!

The usual disclaimers - I don't have affiliation with, nor interest in and wouldn't know the folks who work there from Adam.

That said, Palmetto Records has just done the right thing - they're now posting lossless FLAC files for purchase, as well as high bit rate mp3s and cds for order.

This is particularly good news because Palmetto is reissuing some early stuff as download only. That means we can get it in high quality sound, and with luck it'll stay available.

Re: Palmetto!

I checked the Palmetto site and while not all their recordings are available as flac downloads for the ones that are available the price of the download is a couple of dollars less than it is for the CD - and this is how it should be. Yeah!! Somebody finally got things right!!!! I have to check the Palmetto catalog and see what they are offering as a flac download that I might like and I'll gladly give them me support with a purchase or two. Any recommendations??

Re: Palmetto!

I have the Fred Hersch 'Night and the Music' which was either a record to die for or a Fred Kaplan recommendationm IIRC, and enjoy it very much. The Michael Moore and Fred Hersch 'This We Know' interests me but I wish they had samples of everything.

Thanks for the heads up, promising site.

My understanding is they'll eventually get the entire catalog in flac. It's just taking a bit.

Early on, Ben Allison's '7 Arrows' is wonderful. (All his early stuff is, IMHO.)

I also play Frank Kimbrough's 'Air' a lot.

Both are flac'ed.
