Yamaha HS8, Sennheiser HD600, Supremefx. Any advice for a proper set up?

Hi! I'm planning to buy a pair of studio monitors (Yamaha HS8) and headphones (Sennheiser HD600). I'm not interested with recording. Just listening and editing. And I have an Asus Zenith Extreme motherboard which has a good (they say) onboard sound tech named Supremefx in a Windows pc. So not sure what i need for a proper set up. Are some converter cables enough or i need dac, soundcard, audio interface or something else? I'm new in site and audio stuff. Thanks for replies.

Not here

Most of the forum contributors here haven't the foggiest idea about desktop system audio, so you'd probably be better off checking sister site Audiostream - or even better - Audiophile Style (formerly, Computer Audiophile).

You'll also want to check out InnerFidelity's "Wall of Fame" for headphones:
https://www.innerfidelity.com/content/innerfidelitys-wall-fame

FWIW, the onboard audio for your mobo states:
ROG SupremeFX 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC S1220
- Impedance sense for front and rear headphone outputs
- Supports : Jack-detection, Multi-streaming, Front Panel Jack-retasking
- High quality 120 dB SNR stereo playback output 113 dB SNR recording input
- ESS® ESS9018Q2C
- Supports up to 32-Bit/192kHz playback *5
Audio Feature :
- Optical S/PDIF out port(s) at back panel

That said, I gotta ask: if you are "just listening and editing" what is it that you are expecting from "a proper set up"? I recommend you consider all of your use cases and be more specific about your expectations in future posts.
