This is just fabulous stuff
Yasushi Yoshida: Permanent Yesterday
Aside from the "Daniel" song, I was disappointed by the new Bat For Lashes album. Until I heard it at Jon Iverson's place. There, it sounded AMAZING. Funny how a system can change your opinion of an album.

I don't want to overreact or anything, but this might be amazing. "She Gone," for instance, sounds like the Beatles fronted by Snoop Dogg imitating Tom Waits.
No, it's really good. It reminds me of Leila's Blood, Looms, and Blooms in its massive, masterful fusion of genres. You can stream the whole thing.
Midlake-- the courage of others.

+ lots of radio, though it's becomimg really obvious that nothing streamed sounds as good as even middling f.m., assuming you don't own an MD xm tuner.

Hank Williams Revealed - more goodness from the estate, released through Time-Life
King Crimson - In The Court Of The Crimson King, 2009 remix
Exile - Radio, still. Amazing hip hop/found music.
Enjoying the new batch of old-fashioned love songs from She & Him. You can stream the whole thing at NPR.
And the new one from The Tallest Man On Earth, The Wild Hunt, is good, too. Comparisons to Dylan are unavoidable.
Just sampled a bit of Tallest Man's first album.
Wow. He can write.
Thanks,

"Funny how a system can change your opinion of an album."
Or perhaps the mood you were in at that time?
King Crimson rules!
Recent stuff:
Meshuggah - Alive
Jimi Hendrix - Valleys of Neptune
Yes, your mood can play a big role in how you perceive and enjoy music. I tried the Bat For Lashes album on a few different occasions at home, and was always slightly disappointed. But when listening at Jon's place, I was very impressed. Can't say for sure what it was. Could have been his system, could have been the California air. I think it was mostly his system, though, which excels in drama and impact and in creating extremely large, tight images.
How is that new Hendrix??
How are you liking the Hendrix album?
rvance: Great minds wonder alike.
King Crimson - The 21 Century Guide To (HDCD) Volume One (1969-1974)
Hooverphonic - a new stereophonic sound spectacular
Richard Hawley - Truelove's Gutter
8MM - Songs to Love and Die By
Emililana Torrini - Love in the Time of Science
Spiritualized - Let it Come Down (HDCD)
I think it is pretty good, but I
It's strange - hard not to love Hendrix if you grew up in the era. But over the last few years (including 'Neptune') I keep wanting the vocals to just...go away.
Also, the version of 'Sunshine' goes on, as others have pointed out.

Brian Jonestown Massacre - My Bloody Underground
This didn't come out 40 years ago. Is this some Fripp joke?
From Amazon: "Digitally remastered and expanded two disc (CD/DVD) edition of the Prog Rock band's classic 1974 album, released to coincide with King Crimson's 40th anniversary."
So, kinda.
