NHT M-00/S-00 vs. Dynaudio BM5A?

I have the M-00/S-00 system in my office and am completely satisfied by it. Being able to set the M-00s for nearfield helped me get the sound right (I listen at my desk). And, when "Rocky Mountain Way," "Rock and Roll," or "You Really Got Me" come on, I can crank it uo to 11 and pretend I'm 25 again.

I have only heard the Dunaudios at shows, where they sounded good -- and they certainly look a lot better than the NHTs, which show their studio roots with grey crackle finish.

If you are willing to spend $1k on active monitors, also consider the Adam A7's. I haven't heard the NHT's, but greatly prefer the Adams over the Dynaudio BM5A.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, (I could go on and on) for the suggestion about the A7's. I listened to them against the Dynaudio's and the NHT's and a few others, and the A7's blew them all away. I ended up getting a pair of them and their companion subwoofer, the Sub 8.

To the few who are reading, I am enjoying this setup more than any other I have had (including gear from BAT, Threshold, Muse, Dunlavy - the best god rest his soul, Apogee, Aerial, Martin-Logan, etc. etc.) - obviously an equipment merry-go-round that I think may be called "audiophilia nervosa."

At any rate, now that I've ripped all my CD's in Apple Lossless, have them on a hard drive (and another for backup), and can bring anything up anytime through the Adam monitors ... let's just say I'm good for now.

And that's all I ever wanted to be.

Excellent!

The Adam's are amazing. I found that running them pretty hard for three days or so smooths them out a lot. Let us know if you notice the same.

Interesting that you mention Dunlavy as I also have a set of SC-IVA's that I really enjoy.
