Normally I'd say Creek, but I just checked their prices and being British, they are up quite a bit. Don't rule out the NAD and Cambridge- you can get a good (and inexpensive) outboard phono stage for either. Both brands can give some of the best value for the money out there! I'd skip the Onkyo. They make some OK stuff when they get expensive, but their lower priced stuff isn't so great. Good luck!

I can't think of a better amplifier for you than the Rega Brio. Well, except maybe the Mira. I drive a pair of Paradigms with a Brio, and it's a strong performer. The phono section is excellent, it produces much more clean power than I need in my small room, and it's very simple and (imo) elegant.

The Mira is a lot like the Brio, but is remote controllable and slightly more powerful. I recommend looking for used Rega amplifiers on Audiogon.

Thanks!
From the reviews; the Regas had sounded perfect if I could find one used -- but a lot of this Brit stuff seems to be (not surprisingly) pretty hard to find. However, I have managed to find a used Creek A50iR. I believe it has an on-board add-on phono as well. I'll check it out if it's still available.

Jackfish,

Can you tell me a little more about the Jolida JD 1501A? I have pretty much decided to go with the Monitor Audio RS6 or 8 speakers or possibly the B&W 683.

Thanks

I am very pleased with the Onkyo A-9555 driving my Mo-Fi OML 1's. I think it is a great amp for the money and superior to my Cambridge Audio 640A original. Good imaging, transparent and has plenty of power. I currently have a low output MC cartridge so I have not tried the phono input.
