I celebrated at my sister and brother-in-law's place, and we just had the radio blasting pop music. Lady Gaga and Jay-Z and stuff. But at home the next morning, I took some time to select the first album of the new year. I picked Broken Social Scene's self-titled album from 2005.
Somewhat by accident, upstairs we rang in the new year with "Take 5", Brubeck.
Downstairs, it was the "music" from something like "farmers meet runeys and squirrels in dungeons" on the Wii.
They didn't notice it was the new year for about 2 hours.
We have a small set list for midnight...
To ring out the old year, we play Roxy Music's "Avalon."
To acknowledge what's most important, we play Bruce Cockburn's "Last Night of the World."
To start the new year, we then play Eno's "Just Another Day on Earth."
Then, it's pandemonium in terms of music.
I ignored the 'new year' as I always do (and have ignored -since I was 13), as I recognize that with regards to astronomic function it serves no real human purpose and is more designed to break man away from fundamental truths about nature. To put the marching boots on us, so to speak. The kind of subtleties that escape most people as the lemmings all seem to be moving together....so how would one in the middle of the pack even notice? It isn't paranoia, it's basic observation, is all. The calendar makes the world more efficient, but in what way...and at what cost?
MMMMWWwwwaaaahahahahahahahaaaaaaa..... (I laugh my evil laugh)
Wow, how do let people know when to expect a product or install?
By phase of the moon? Days pre or post soltice? Position of the sun in the sky?
Have you disabled the time and date function of your computer and cell phone?
Maybe Chicago should write a song about your philosophy!
When it arrives.
Works for me.
Here's something interesting for you to grok:
When the differing governments of the world did testing of atomic weapons, they found that the resultant explosion's energy levels would be separately affected by the location on the surface of the globe (ley lines), the phases of the moon, and the alignment of the planets and the sun's activity. I'm dead serious here. But you won;t find any explanation for that in contemporary physics. Remember in the other thread I spoke of Kozyrev who found that there was a time wave, a carrier wave function of some sort that was completely time invariant (instantaneous, across any given light year distance, apparently) and was aligned with the given masses to perfection? Remember that? The observed fluctuation in explosive results varied by just over 40% and was always aligned with the planetary motions in the same way that astrologists look at it. In essence the results of atomic explosions illustrated that the ley line and similar guys and the astrologists are dead on, in some fundamental ways.
I'm forced to deal with the rest of the world so I have to deal with this shit, this utter garbage, IMO.
Does the thought of being different scare you, my little Buddha friend? Perhaps it does.
No, I'm used to it.
I'm also used to your kind of sand in the K-Y replies like..."What songs did you play for NYE? Songs? NYE? I disdain your ways, blah blah blah..." but I thought I'd stick up for the happy nature of the thread and talking music.
Hey, keep us posted. Maybe when someone posts about a birthday present, you can chime in with some bullshit about not acknowledging such mundane arbitrary events as trips around the sun or marking one's date of birth in a celebratory fashion and how you ceased to accept birthday greetings since age four...
Is there a yawn smiley?
Guess not.
Maybe Gilbert O Sullivan can write the next song you are reminding me of.
"In a little while from now, if you're not feeling and less sour..."
Just about perfect. Can you see the Vegas skyline from where you listen? It must be something as the years change.
